With our Community Orchestra Program, students can experience team work of all ages and levels at The Royal Stage School of Music. If at any point you decide you would like to join the community orchestra program, contact our administration office.

Introduction to String Orchestra

Age 4 to Adult  ***(NEW CLASS Summer 2023)
This ensemble is for students who are NEW BEGINNERS (ages 4 through adult) and are interested in learning how to play the violin, viola, cello, or bass.  We will begin as a group to learn how to hold the instrument, play the instrument, read music and perform as an ensemble.  One Parent/Guardian/Caretaker is free with one participating child.
---Orchestra Expressions Book 1 is required as well as a shoulder rest for violin/viola, and Bow Buddy.

Angels Orchestra (Level 1)

Age 4 to Adult
This ensemble is for students who can read notes, understand basic bowings, play one octave scales, and had completed at least one year of experience (completed Orchestra Expressions Book 1) on the violin, viola, cello, or bass. One Parent/Guardian/Caretaker is free with one participating child.  
---Orchestra Expressions Book 1 & 2 is required as well as a shoulder rest for violin/viola, and Bow Buddy.

Concert Orchestra (Level 2)

Age 4 to Adult
This ensemble is for students who can read notes, understand more advanced bowings, play one-two octave scales, and had completed at least two years of experience (completed Orchestra Expressions Book 2) on the violin, viola, cello, or bass. One Parent/Guardian/Caretaker is free with one participating child. 
---Expressive Techniques for Orchestra is required as well as a shoulder rest for violin/viola, and Bow Buddy

Sinfonia (Level 3)

Age 4 to Adult
This intermediate-advanced ensemble is for students who can demonstrate vibrato, understand at least 3rd position, perform two to three octave scales, understand advanced bowing techniques, and had completed at least three years of experience on the violin, viola, cello, or bass.
AUDITION REQUIRED. New students- please sign up for Concert Orchestra and attend the first rehearsal as your audition.  Former students who participated in Sinfonia may sign up. One Parent/Guardian/Caretaker is free with one participating child. 
---Expressive Techniques for Orchestra is required

Chamber Orchestra (Level 4)

Age 4 to adult
This prestigious ensemble is by invitation only.

RSSM Quartet

Age 14 to adult
This ensemble is for students who are ready to perform professionally at different events such as weddings, private events, etc.

IMPORTANT:

For all ensembles: Instructor may place student in a class that is more suitable after hearing the student.

Attendance: Class attendance is imperative for a successful final concert. However, conflicts are sometimes unavoidable, so each student is allowed ONE excused absence for each session in Fall, Winter and Spring.  Missing more than one rehearsal may prevent you from participating in the concert.


*Please bring your book and/or music, instrument and a folding stand to class.
